LIGURIA PAESI ABBANDONATI

PORTESONE

Portesone e' un borgo abbandonato nei pressi di Tellaro nel comune di Lerici in provincia di La Spezia. Ci sono diverse case, le rovine della chiesa della quale sono rimaste le mura e muri perimetrali avviluppati dai rovi ma dove crescono anche gli iris bianchi.
E' comodamente raggiungibile, si puo' partire da Tellaro o da Lerici con una delle passeggiate descritte nel mio libro "Passeggiate a Levante" e precisamente nell'itinerario "Da Lerici A Bocca Di Magra sul Sentiero dei Poeti Fiascherino Tellaro le Punte di Montemarcello e il Caprione". In alcuni tratti si cammina sul percorso di un'antichissima creusa che portava a Luni per evitare la salita al promontorio del Caprione e che presenta in molti tratti belle vedute panoramiche.
E' situato a 140m sul livello del mare e sebbene presenti aspetti tipicamente agricoli, rinomati gli uliveti i finocchi e i fichi, e pastorali ha avuto una storia importante sotto i Vescovi di Luni e con Genova. Le case, a due piani erano le tipiche delle campagne, con il primo piano adibito a stalla ed il secondo come abitazione ma le costruzioni in pietra le rendevano piu' resitenti agli attacchi di nemici che provenivano, anticamente, soprattutto dal mare. Venne colpito dalla peste e i pochi abitanti sopravvissuti si rifugiarono nel vicino borgo di Barbazzano.
Le case mantengono intatte il tipico "fascino" di tanti borghi abbandonati che si fanno un po' rivivere con il nostro passaggio perche' si toglie qualche ramo infestante o si scostano cespugli che fanno apparire segni di culture antiche.

Portesone is an abandoned village near Tellaro in the town of Lerici in the province of La Spezia. There are several houses and among them the remains of a church.
The place is easy to reach, you can start from Tellaro or Lerici with one of the walks described in my book "Eastern Liguria hiking" and precisely in the itinerary "From Lerici Mouth to the Path of the Poets Fiascherino Tellaro Montemarcello and Caprione" and in some places you walk along a very ancient path that was leading to Luni avoiding so to climb to the promontory of Caprione but still has many beautiful panoramic views.
It is placed at 140m above sea level and although shows typically agricultural aspects, renowned olive trees fennel and figs, and pastoral has had an important history with the Bishops of Luni and with Genoa.
The houses on two floors were typical of the countryside, with the first floor used as a stable, and the second one as a dwelling but the stone buildings were made more resistent to discourage attacks from enemies of the ancient times, especially from the sea. He was struck by the plague and the few surviving inhabitants took refuge in the nearby village of Barbazzano.
The houses maintain intact the typical "charm" of many abandoned villages that unveil signs of old cultures.
